This week the Arrows played Harvester’s North at home. We knew this would be a tough game, as when we beat Harvester’s South a few weeks ago, all I heard was ‘Good effort, but they weren’t the North team’ …
So we started the game a little cautiously with a 3-2-1 formation, giving their strikers little chance of breaking through our defence. Our passing from midfield through to our strikers was outstanding today, where Jack Skinner netted his first goal from a long pass by Elliot Scott.
Moments later, Harvester’s had a decent attempt at goal from a corner from which their striker controlled the ball with his arm before kicking it which resulted in their goal being disallowed. Tempers flared by the referee’s decision, but for those who saw it, knew it was the right decision.
The second half and the opposition up their tempo as expected. With the comfort of Dylan Berger and Tom Howarth in defence, we changed our formation to a 2-2-2 to try and build on our lead.
George Wainright, Josh Levenstein, and Oli Bloom worked the ball well in midfield, and some superb through balls resulted in Jack Skinner (3) scoring a hatrick. At the final whistle, Aldenham Arrows win 3-0.
It was a hard decision to call man of the match this week as all boys played very well, but ultimately Jack Skinner gets it for his continual effort up front, and scoring 3 cracking goals.
