Today the Arrows played away to Hadley Wood and Wingate Herons. Due to the lack of available players by our opposition, and in the true spirit of u9 football, we agreed to play 6 a side. With only 6 players, the pitch seemed huge, and it took pretty much the first half for our boys to find their feet (literally).
The second half started; once the boys warmed up, the passing started to flow, and a lovely cross by Jack Skinner opened the score sheet for Oli Bloom (2) who controlled the ball from shoulder and sunk it past the keeper.
Our opponents upped their tempo and made some pretty aggressive tackles, and on occasions made some cracking long range attempts at goal which only the skill of our goalkeeper Brayden Fifer could keep out. Shortly after a sustained attack in our half, a well-rehearsed corner lead to a first goal by our star defender Dylan Berger (1).
In true Arrows style, the passing by our midfielders, Luis Rosenberg and Elliot Scott, kept coming and the goals kept flowing. Jack Skinner skilled his way through midfield to open his score sheet, followed by two others which included one of his trademark free kicks resulting in a well-deserved hatrick (3)
Further goals by Tom Howarth (1), and Oli Bloom gave the Arrows a 7-0 Win!
Man of the match this week goes to our goal-keeper Brayden Fifer for keeping us in the game for the first couple of minutes then continued to make 3 or 4 great saves during the match.
