What a great start to 2014 for the Arrows who played away to London Lions White. This was a high tempo game, with both teams out to prove a point.
We started with a cautious 3-2-1 formation, but having the comfort of our goal-keeper Brayden Fifer holding his own, we soon moved to a more attacking 2-2-2.
This paid dividends, with Jack Skinner (1) penetrating through the Lions defence to secure our first half goal.
The second half provided an entertaining incident where the Lions FA qualified ref’s decision, to quite rightly allow our goal by midfielder Elliot Scott (1), lead to him throwing in the towel after the Lions manager stormed on the pitch to contest the decision. Once the situation calmed down and the ref returned, the Lions clawed back a goal.
Our passing towards the middle of the second half was accurate, this allowed the boys to show off their creativity. A rebound allowed Oli Bloom (1) to get on the score sheet, followed soon afterwards by a very composed George Wainright whose skilful feet weaved through the midfield and defence to provide the goal of the season.
Midfielders Elliot Scott, Louis Rosenberg, Tom Howarth, and George Wainright had a great game today; as did strikers Oli Bloom and Jack Skinner, then some crucial defending by Dylan Berger, Yash Patel, and Josh Levenstein kept our opposition at bay at points in the second half. The score at the final whistle was 4-2 to the Arrows!
Man of the match this week goes to George Wainright who did not stop running all game, and provided an unbelievable 4th goal for the team.
