The Arrows played away to London Maccabi Lions Blue. Late afternoon kick-off’s don’t baud well for our team, but not only can we be known as unbeaten, we can now also be known as the come back kings.
The first half saw one particular LML midfielder make numerous runs down the right hand side, whereby they netted 4 goals within 20 minutes. This trailing score line was a first for us and knocked the wind out of our sails; knowing that we’ve beaten them before, we adjusted the formation to a more attacking 2-2-2 and kept our composure.
The second half began, we knew it was going to be a hard ask but the boys started to pass well. Jack Skinner open his scoring account (1) by blasting the ball into the top right of the net.
Upping the tempo and knowing we needed at least another 3 in the remaining 15 minutes, our defender Tom Howarth demonstrated what a diverse player he is by scoring 2 further goals.
In the dying minutes, the boys dug even deeper and a superb cross by Jack Skinner provided George Wainwright (1) with the goal to even out the score line. At the final whistle, the match ended 4-4 !
The whole team really played their hearts out in the second half; but our man of the match goes to Yash Patel who continually does what’s asked of him, is a superb left back and someone the team can depend on to deliver excellent crosses and corners.
