The Arrows played an afternoon away fixture against London Lions Blue. This week saw us with no subs on the bench, so we knew this was going to be a tough match. The boys maintained possession for much of the first half, and our passing was pretty tight around the midfield.
A long range shot by George Wainright (1) ricochet down from the cross bar and into the back of the net to give us an early lead.
The first half gave us plenty of opportunities to score including a superbly struck Jack Skinner free kick, but credit to the Lions goalkeeper, all attempts were blocked. A long pass from Lions goal-keeper to striker, materialised into a goal for the Lions.
Louis Rosenberg’s (1) persistence and skilful footwork paid off, and just before the half time whistle, the Arrows took the lead once again.
As we started the second half, the hale storm started and tired legs begun to set in. The boys remained composed but they struggled to bury the ball, not for the lack of trying. Jack Skinner, Oli Bloom and Josh Levenstein all had shots saved.
Lions managed to claw back an equaliser in the dying minutes, the shot was just too well placed for Brayden to keep out.
At the final whistle, the score line was an even 2-2. Man of the match this week goes to our goal-keeper Brayden Fifer who despite having 2 defenders in front of him, made some sensational 1 v 1 saves that kept us in the game at points.
