The Arrows played at home to Borehamwood Youth Crusaders. Playing them and being held to a draw in last month’s cup game; then finally beating them on penalties, we wanted to show them why we are the best team in the league.
With a full squad, we came out all guns blazing in an attacking 2-2-2 formation. Passing was superb from the off, and we had early shots on target by Oli Bloom and Louis Rosenberg. A penalty decision in our favour for a foul on Louis Rosenberg in the box was dismissed by the referee. Boys remained focussed on securing that lead they quite rightly deserved.
The second half started and the team piled on the pressure. Possession and passing between our forwards was tight. Elliot Scott (1) secured our lead by making a sensational run through midfield, then belting the ball from a tight angle to beat the keeper.
Shortly after Oli Bloom delivered a lovely goal, albeit disallowed with claims it never went over the line. How the old phrase goes ‘cheats never prosper’; on the counter from that moment of madness, our goal-keeper Brayden Fifer made 2 spectacular one on one saves to keep a clean sheet.
After 2 penalty decisions not given and a goal disallowed, we walked away with a 1-0 Win.
Special mentions this week go to Jack Skinner, Oli Bloom, Josh Levenstein, Elliot Scott, and Tom Haworth for some great passing and team work, which was complimented by rock solid defensive duties by Dylan Berger and Yash Patel.
It was a great all round team performance this week by all. MEN of the match this week go to Elliot Scott, Brayden Fifer, and Louis Rosenberg.
