This week saw United face off against last year’s runners up of the White Division, Harvesters South (formerly Harvesters East).

This was always going to be a tight game as we had close games last season and their results this season pointed to another closely fought contest.

In terms of ability, the teams were indeed closely matched and neither side could claim to be technically the stronger. However, once again, the game was decided on the basis of who wanted it more and who was prepared to put in the graft to win the ball and break up the opponents play. Unfortunately, not for the first time, this was not United.

After surrendering far too much of the play in the first half, Harvesters were good for their 1 – 0 lead and with little change in work rate in the second half, Harvesters were able to move into a 3 – 0 lead.

The last fifteen minutes of the game was a bit more balanced and a penalty, won by Kieran and converted by James, made it 3 – 1 and saw us finally start to play with a bit of passion, but unfortunately this was too little too late.

Man of the match was awarded to Ollie for a battling performance in defence.
