A 5 – 1 defeat, away to Harvesters North, saw United exit the County Cup in our 3rd round fixture.
Having lost out to Harvesters North in the league a few weeks ago, we knew that only a performance like last week would give us a chance of staying in the cup.
Whilst we never hit the highs of last week, we did compete in the first half and having gone 2 – 0 down, including conceding a quite unstoppable shot for their second goal, Dillan scored with a great shot of his own to put us in with a chance at half-time.
Unfortunately we seemed to switch off completely for the first fifteen or twenty minutes of the second half conceding an early goal, when having Ollie off the pitch injured and Luke on the pitch injured left us exposed at the back, and then two further goals which came from acceding possession far too easily to Harvesters.
In the final ten minutes we started to battle back into the game, albeit never quite nullifying the Harvester’s threat, but it was far too little too late.
Reaching the last 32 of the County Cup, winning three games on the way, still puts us in a good light, but a shame to go out with a somewhat limp performance after getting this far.
There were one or two solid performances from the boys, including both Ollie and Barsa, but man-of-the-match this week, and the captain’s armband went to Ben for consistently giving Harvesters something to think about on the left side of the park.
